Wisdom Teeth Removal Pontotoc MS

The third set of molars, which are coined as the wisdom teeth, is the last teeth to break out that can be found on every side of the upper and lower jaws. When in good shape and accurately placed, these teeth can remain in place after they erupt, but more often than not, they need to be extracted to prevent future dental problems.

Here at South Main Dental, with the help of our exceptional facilities, we try to make it our duty to properly remove the wisdom teeth of our patients that need it, ensuring them a safe and positive experience.

What are Wisdom Teeth Extractions?

Wisdom teeth commonly pop up when a person is in their late teens and early 20s. If you do not get misaligned teeth extracted, it may lead to painful crowding of the teeth and several other dental problems. Among those dental problems include caries, pericoronitis, and the irritation of the dental pulp.

Clinical studies revealed that close to 95 percent of the pericoronitis problems take place in the lower wisdom teeth. Other symptoms of a wisdom tooth problem include tooth pain and infection, casualty to an adjacent tooth and the surrounding bone, and problems with orthodontic procedures when straightening other teeth. Moreover, through profound research and studies, our office advises everyone between ages 16 and 19 years old to set up an appointment with our dentist to help block foreseeable dental issues.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction is the Answer to Your Painful Gums and Teeth

The removal of the wisdom teeth can also lower the risk of suffering from gum disease and dental cavities, tumors, cysts, and other known pathologies. These oral health conditions can also cause jaw pain, swelling, bad breath, difficulty in opening the mouth. After scheduling an appointment with us for a surgical procedure, we will be giving you a preview of the benefits, risks, and the expectations of the surgical procedure.

What Happens During and After Wisdom Teeth Extraction?

During the process, we will be using anesthesia that ranges from local, sedation, and general, which may vary depending on your comfort level. A wisdom tooth extraction here is expected to be done within one visit. Once you complete the procedure, we advise our patients to stay away from lifting, exercising activities, alcoholic beverages, smoking, and coffee, and simply rest for the remainder of the day. It is best for you only to eat soft foods, and clean your mouth by not brushing, but instead, using mouthwash to restrain any bleeding that may occur.

To help you manage the pain, we will be recommending you take pain relievers such as Ibuprofen or Tylenol. The recovery period may only take three days or as long as two weeks, depending on the swelling and bruising that you experience. If you suffer from any symptoms, such as fever or serious pain, it is suggested and recommended to arrange a consultation with us here at South Main Dental to steer clear of any complications that may emerge. Give us a call at 662-489-7768 to schedule an appointment.
